Bahula is an important part of Durgapur division ofBardhaman district in an Indian state of West Bengal. This census town comes under the Andal Police Station and has been popular as the vital coal mining area within the state. The town is encircled by Jamuria Block towards West, Ondal Block towards South, Dubrajpur Block towards East and Khoyrasol Block towards North. In addition, the adjacent cities to Bahula are Mihijam, Kulti, Suri and Asansol while the village is bordered with Bardhaman district and Birbhum district of West Bengal. Furthermore, Bahula is located at a distance of 92 km from its district headquarters while 198 km from the state capital - Kolkata.

Geography of Bahula

Bahula is located at the latitude of 23° 39' 26.71' N and longitude of 87° 11' 45.5' E. It lies between two large rivers namely Ajay and Damodar. This area is comprised of rolling latterite soil. Historically, Bahula was largely adorned with dark forests but due to the industrialization of this area for coal mining for over the years have led these forests to be cut down in the area. However, the maximum temperature remains around 40 °C in summer, which goes down to 12°C during the winter season. The heavy rainfall here can be seen during the months of July and August. So, the months of October and November provide the best time to visit at Bahula.

There are 9095 males and 8415 females out of the total population of this town. Children here, between the age group of 0-6, are 2202 constituting 12.58% of the total population. On the other hand, Raman Ragan is a Deer Park that provides an ideal shelter to deer, crocodiles and varied types of birds. Apart from these tourist attractions, Konkaleshwari Kali Mandir, Sarvamangala Temple and Meghnad Saha Planetarium are also counted among the most visited sightseeing attractions in and around Bahula.
